Countries imposing an embargo on Iran do not have the right to talk about human rights, says Kanaani

Tehran, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani reiterated on Monday his country’s rejection of any foreign interference in its internal affairs. He stressed that countries imposing an unjust embargo on Iran have no right to talk about human rights in it.

The Iranian news agency (IRNA) quoted Kanaani as saying during his weekly press conference that we strongly reject allegations of human rights violations in Iran. “Some countries are making allegations against our country, and they themselves are an example of human rights violations in the world and do not have the moral authority to interfere in Iranian affairs”, he added.

Kanani added that some countries that interfere in Iranian affairs used to put criminal groups and other  groups on their terrorist list, but today they have taken them off this list and provide them with support.

With regard to the issue of negotiations to abolish the embargo on Iran, Kanaani said that his country has not taken the issue of nuclear negotiations off its agenda, and the negotiations file is still on Tehran’s agenda, and there is no discussion of the end of the talks.

Kanaani considered that the US administration suffers from duplicity in its words and actions regarding negotiations, and therefore the revival of the nuclear agreement depends on America taking political decisions.

With regard to the situation in occupied Palestine, Kanaani affirmed that Iran’s position is clear on the Palestinian cause and supports the Palestinian people and their resistance against the occupiers.
