Syrian people nationwide are commemorating these days the glorious 45th anniversary of the Correction Movement which was led by the late great leader Hafez al-Assad. The importance of the Correction Movement lies in the fact that it corrected the march of the Baath Party and returned it to the people. Syrian people are marking the anniversary with strong determination to press ahead with the battle against takfiri terrorism, which aims to destroy the great achievements realized by the Correction Movement. Syria marks this anniversary while being more stronger, determined and more committed to the national principles and interests of its people.
Before November 16, 1970, Syria was a weak state that has no position on the geo-political map. But after that date, the late great leader Hafez al-Assad changed Syria into a key state to be reckoned with at all levels. The late President, through his wisdom, strategic vision and firm stances has achieved great accomplishments, established strategic relations with neighboring countries and created a vital and effective space and a regional balance. Syria has moved into the stage of an effective Arab presence in the regional and international circles to defend the rights of the Arab nation, especially the central cause of the Arab people, the Palestine question.
It is too difficult to enumerate the achievements of the Correction Movement in an article. The great Correction Movement created the appropriate atmosphere to lay the foundation for establishing the state and building the human being making Syria realize comprehensive socio-economic development represented by great accomplishments in all domains.
October victory in 1973 was one of the great achievements of the Movement. It is considered a luminous landmark in the history of modern Syria. Immediately after the Correction Movement, the late great President Hafez al-Assad began the process of rebuilding the Syrian army to be ready to the battle of liberation against the Israeli forces of occupation. The late great leader Hafez Al Assad re-built Syria’s military in order to unleash a war of Liberation. On October 6th, 1973, the Syrian and Egyptian armies achieved a landslide victory against the Israeli army. The victory inaugurated the dawn of a new era and created a promising turning point in the life of the Arab Nation. This sweeping victory had great consequences at the local and international levels.
Despite the fact that Syria realized the first victory against Israel in their history and remained steadfast in confrontation of the Zionist projects in the region, most Arab regimes remained the loyal servants of Zionism implementing the American-Israeli agenda in the Arab region. As cheap tools, some Arab states, especially Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been exporting terrorists to Syria, training them and funding their atrocious crimes against Syrian people and their public and private properties.
The Correction Movement anniversary comes amid huge events in Syria and the Arab region, mainly the hostile campaign being launched against Syria by the US, the western colonial powers and some Arab and regional countries through supporting takfiri armed terrorist organizations, financing and arming them and encouraging them to commit massacres in order to weaken the Syrian state in service of the Zionist-American project. This global conspiracy was launched against Syria because of its steadfastness and support for the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance against Israel.
Inspired by the sublime values and great meanings of the Correction Movement, Syrian people and army are determined to press ahead with their battle to uproot terrorism and restore security and stability to Syria. Army units are continuing their operations against the terrorist organizations and have made significant successes in several provinces. The Syrian army and armed forces carry out duty of combating terrorism in different provinces, killing terrorist organizations’ members, destroying their hideouts and foiling their plots and schemes and establishing control over more areas.
The Syrians desire that their life will return to normalcy, to what it used to be before the crisis as they were leading a prosperous and stable life which was the main and salient aspect of their homeland after the Correction Movement. This cherished objective will be achieved at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army members who have been launching a comprehensive battle to eliminate takfiri terrorism exported to Syria from more than 83 states.
