In Brazil, 41,576 infections and 709 new deaths were recorded with the virus, bringing the total number of infections to three million and 107,232 deaths.
In Mexico, the Ministry of Health announced 6,345 infections and 635 new deaths from the Coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 517,714 cases and deaths to 56,543 deaths.
In Germany, data from the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases showed on August 16 that 625 new infections were recorded, bringing the total number of infections to 223,453, while the number of deaths remained unchanged at 9,231 deaths.
In South Korea, the Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recorded 279 new infections of the virus, which is the largest daily death toll in the country since the beginning of last March.
New Zealand recorded 13 new infections of the virus during the past 24 hours, with the continuing increase of the first outbreak of the virus in the country in months.
In Egypt, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the registration of 116 new infections of Coronavirus and 17 deaths on August 15.
