Sydney, (ST) – The Coptic Orthodox Church in Australia held a mass for the souls of the victims of the earthquake disaster that hit Syria, and a day of donations for the afflicted.
In his speech during the mass, the Head of the Coptic Church in Australia, Bishop Mba Daniel presented the devastating effects of the earthquake and its catastrophic repercussions on the Syrian people in particular, in light of the unjust Western blockade imposed on them. He denounced the continuation of Western countries to impose this blockade.
In turn, the honorary consul of Syria in Sydney, Dr. Maher Dabbagh, thanked the Coptic Church, those in charge of it, and the brotherly Egyptian people for their honorable stand with their Syrian brothers in their ordeal during this disaster.
Dabbagh pointed out in his speech during the mass, which was attended by a large number of worshipers, that the Egyptian people embody the depth of the brotherly relationship between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples. He pointed out that the blockade and the so-called Caesar Act imposed by Western countries have increased the suffering of the Syrians, as they are going through the greatest ordeal in modern history.
After the mass, a charity market was held, the proceeds of which go to those affected by the effects of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
