Coordination Meeting Held to Discuss Solutions to End Suffering of Displaced Syrians Trapped in Rukban Camp
HOMS, (ST)-Within the framework of cooperation between the Russian Reconciliation Center and the Higher Committee for the Return of the Displaced, a coordination meeting was held on Tuesday to find a lasting solution to end the suffering of thousands of displaced Syrians trapped by the US occupation forces and their mercenaries in al-Rukban camp at the Syrian-Jordanian borders.
Representatives from the Syrian government parties, the Russian Reconciliation and Coordination Center, the United Nations and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) as well as some tribes’ dignitaries took part in the meeting which was held in Homs eastern countryside.
Focus during the meeting was put on mechanisms, facilitations and preparations adopted by the Syrian state’s concerned institutions to receive returnees from al-Rukban camp.
Participants discussed ways of ending the suffering of the displaced Syrians and helping them return to their villages and towns which have been liberated by the Syrian Arab army from terrorism.
Head of the Russian Reconciliation Center, Major General Viktor Kupchikhin, expressed his country’s affirmation that the only and the fastest solution for al-Rukban camp issue is to speed up the process of evacuating the people from the camp and moving them to their original areas.
He noted the camp’s disastrous circumstances in which the displaced Syrians live and the American side’s refusal to join the efforts aiming to put an end to the refugees’ suffering.
On his part, Director of the Political Administration, Major General Hasan Hasan, said that all concerned parties in the state are doing their best to guarantee safe return for the Refugee camp residents to their areas.
He stressed that the American occupation in al-Tanf area applies the law of the jungle by preventing the displaced Syrians from leaving the camp.
Dignitaries of tribes explained the tragic situation in the camp and warned of a humanitarian disaster if this situation continues. They affirmed that the meeting was important being a step to end the suffering of the displaced citizens and help them return to their villages and towns safely.
