Cooperation between Syria Trust for Development and Emirates Red Crescent to expand wheat-cultivated area in Lattakia countryside
Lattakia – With the aim of expanding the wheat-cultivate area in the countryside of Lattakia, the Syria Trust for development in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) distributed 6880 kg of wheat seeds and 5160 kg of fertilizers to farmers in several villages in Lattakia.
According to the Syria Trust, the villages in which the wheat seeds were distributed are Al-Dulaibat, Al-Amoud, Al-Qarandah, Al-Arqoub, Harf Al-Musaytra, Shambutin, Arous Al-Jabal, Ain Al-Hayat and Farshat in the Qardaha countryside.
The Syria Trust clarified that the seeds are enough to cultivate an area of 344 dunums which guarantees self-sufficiency to more than a hundred families in these areas.
It pointed out that its work with partners aims at investing in the agricultural environment and circumstances and in the accumulated expertise of individuals with the aim of meeting the requirements of agricultural activity and improving the quality of the crops so that they become a more sustainable source of income.
