Cooperation Agreement Signed with Abkhazia Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Damascus, (ST) – The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia here on Sunday signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in the field of trade.

The agreement, which was signed by the President of the Federation Mohamed Ghassan al-Qalaa and Abkhazian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennady Gagolia. The agreement provides for strengthening cooperation and developing relations in economic, scientific and technical aspects, increasing contracts between companies from both sides and encouraging companies to cooperate with each other.

The agreement also stipulates that the two sides will exchange information on the economy, foreign trade, trade and customs laws between the two sides and the region, and build strong relations to activate the participation of businessmen and companies in addition to the Federation and the Chambers in participating in specialized and international exhibitions or any promotional events held in Syria or Abkhazia.

Under the agreement, the parties shall organize the exchange of information to promote honest trade between companies, combat illegal competition and assist companies in both countries to resolve disputes by commercial arbitration or by friendly means in the event of any disputes.

After the signing agreement, Mr. Al-Qalaa and Mr. Ghagoulia told reporters that it is important in framing and documenting cooperation between the two sides, which opens wide areas of cooperation for Syrian and Abkhazian companies.

During their meeting, the the President of the Federation and a number of members discussed with Mr. Gholaliah and the accompanying delegation at Damascus Chamber of Commerce ways to open and develop horizons for cooperation between the two sides to serve the aspirations of the business sector in both countries and seize the trade and investment opportunities available.

Mr. Al-Qalaa stressed the importance of closer relations, exchanging visits, seeking the arrival of Syrian goods to the Abkhazian markets, encouraging tourist trips and finding transport routes.

For his part, Vice President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce Irfan Darkal pointed to the importance of facilitating access of the Syrian business sector to entry visas to Abkhazia in order to hold talks and discover trade and investment opportunities.

For his part, the head of the Quneitra Chamber and the industry, Mufid Mashafj, stressed the need to benefit from the opportunities of cooperation available between the Syrian and Abkhazian companies in all fields and for the benefit of both countries.

Mr. Gholaliah expressed his readiness to help the Syrian business sector overcome the difficulties of bank transfers, activate relations between companies in the two countries, transport of goods to Abkhazia and the surrounding countries through the port of Abkhazia and help Syria to improve the economy and get rid of the effects of war especially in its economic aspects.
