Control of  fire that erupted in Bashoura area in Lattakia countryside

The forest firefighting teams in the Lattakia Agriculture Directorate with the assistance of Syrian and Russian helicopters managed on Wednesday to extinguish the huge fire that erupted in the mountainous forest areas of Bashoura in Lattakia northern countryside.

Head of the Forests Department in the Agriculture Directorate Jaber Saqqour said in a statement to SANA that thanks to collective efforts, the fire was controlled, but  not before  it had eliminated a wide area of the forest in Bashoura area.

Saqqour pointed out that the firefighting teams stayed on the site of the fire for observation and for cooling the area, given the fact that this place has a difficult topography and has few roads and that the wind is currently very strong in this area.
