Contradictory Western stands towards combating terrorism

The West should be serious in fighting terrorism in word and deed. Had the West been serious in fighting terrorism that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria represents, this terrorism would never have had a foot to stand on.  There are contradictory positions of western countries including the United States when it comes to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as they acknowledge that it’s a terrorist organization in Iraq while claiming that it consists of freedom fighters or moderate opposition in Syria. The US Pentagon admitted that around 100 American nationals are fighting alongside the terrorist groups operating inside Syria, with a dozen of those are believed to have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Spokesman for the Pentagon Colonel Steven Warren said there are around 100 US nationals operating inside of Syria, noting that it is unclear to which armed groups they are linked. NBC News earlier revealed that investigations are underway in the US to probe into the issue of American nationals going to Syria and joining ISIS ranks there.

Syria is country number one in fighting terrorism in the world. It has always called for conferences to be convened to come up with a clear definition of terrorism and differentiate between it and the legitimate right to resistance which is a right for nations whose lands are under occupation. Syria has announced its willingness to cooperate with all international and regional efforts for combating terrorism which constitutes a threat to the regional and international peace and security. It made clear that all the countries which have provided all forms of support for the armed terrorist organizations are today called upon to reconsider their approach so as to prove their credibility and seriousness in combating terrorism and their commitment to implementing Security Council resolution no. 2170.

The ISIS Takfiri terrorists infiltrated into Syria with the help of the US and some countries in the region. The US-Israel-ISIS plan in Syria has come to naught. Over the past months, the Syrian army has managed to make major gains in its fight against foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists that have been operating inside Syria roughly since March 2011.

The events that have been rocking Tunisia, Libya, Iraq, Syria and Yemen are intended to fragment what has been already divided for Israel to out-power and dominate a weak Arab nation. There are attempts to embroil Arab states in religious, sectarian and ethnic conflicts to divert attention away from what is happening in Palestine. The fake “Arab Spring” that has swept the region “popularized a culture of beheading, killing and sectarianism.

It has become clear that 86 countries have been sending mercenaries to destroy Syria. These countries failed to understand President al-Assad’s warnings regarding the threat of terrorism, something which U.S. President Barack Obama has only started to realize. The shifts taking place in Syria, the region, and the world indicate that Syria’s victory over the aggression targeting it is inevitable and it’s only a matter of time.

The Arab public is aware of the scale and form of the conspiracy targeting Syria and realizes well the involvement of Israel in supporting terrorists in Syria.

Israel is exploiting the current situation in the Arab region and the overt Saudi-Turkish-Qatari support for it as well as the longstanding western support to provide the cover it needed to wage the aggression on the Palestinians and escalate its racist aggressive policies against the Palestinians under occupation.
