Contracts and export deals signed at the conclusion of the “Made in Syria” specialized exhibition for clothing and textiles

Damascus  (ST):  The activities of the “Made in Syria” specialized export exhibition for clothes and textiles “Autumn and Winter 2021-2022” organized by the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry and the Association of Syrian Exporters of Clothing and Textiles, concluded on the grounds of the Fairs City in Damascus with the participation of more than 180 national companies.

Member of the exhibition’s organizing committee, Mohammad Zizan, said in a statement that the exhibition was successful, as it resulted in the signing of contracts and deals, and reaching understandings and partnerships between the participating companies and Arab businessmen who visited the exhibition to export quantities of clothing to foreign markets, especially Iraq, noting that 700 businessmen were hosted. Of them, 500 are from Iraq and 200 are from Lebanon, Jordan, Libya and other countries.

A number of Arab businessmen who visited the exhibition expressed admiration of the displayed products, as they are among the latest designs of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, stressing that the exhibition proved once again that the textile industry in Syria is in continuous development despite all the difficulties it has been exposed to and that it still maintains its position in the markets of neighboring countries.

Yasser Samir Abbas, a clothing merchant from Iraq, confirmed his keenness to visit the exhibition in its summer and winter versions, due to the new “Styles” it contains, in addition to the fact that Syria has a long history in the textile industry and has returned to compete in the Arab markets despite the great difficulties it faced.

For his part, Hussein Makki, “a businessman from Baghdad,” pointed out that Iraqi merchants prefer to import Syrian-origin clothing “because they are easy to import and of high quality in terms of fabrics and price,” indicating that no less than 65 thousand male closing articles are shipped annually from Syria to Iraq because of its good reputation among the Iraqi citizen.

Libyan businessman, Mohammed Abdullah, highlighted the importance of the exhibition, as it contains a wide variety of local products and offers, especially those coming from abroad, better options and facilities for exporting to the Libyan markets.

The companies participating in the four-day exhibition displayed the latest models of various types of men’s, children’s and women’s clothing, fabrics and production requirements, targeting the markets of neighboring countries through hundreds of businessmen who were invited from many countries to conclude deals to export these products to the markets of these countries and others.
