Continuing its coercive restrictive measures, the European Union amends the requirement for humanitarian organizations to obtain permission to provide aid to Syria

Brussels (ST): The Council of the European Union issued a resolution amending one of the restrictive measures imposed on Syria for a period of six months, under the pretext of facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid due to the aggravation of the crisis in Syria after the earthquake that hit the country on the sixth of February.

According to the amendment, which was published on the Union Council website, humanitarian organizations no longer need to obtain prior permission from the competent authorities in the European Union member states to carry out transfers or provide goods and services intended for humanitarian purposes to the persons and entities included in the list.

For many years, Western coercive measures caused suffering to the Syrian people in all aspects of life and exacerbated this suffering after the disaster of the earthquake, which resulted in hundreds of victims and injuries, and great damage to homes and infrastructure.
