‘Continued genocide in Gaza most unprecedented disaster of century’

Tehran- (ST) –  Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian strongly condemned the measures taken by the Zionist entity, namely separating the northern Gaza Strip from the south, implementing the starvation policy to displace the population, implementing plans for attacking Rafah and preventing the Palestinians from returning to their residential areas in Gaza and preventing the United Nations relief agencies from reaching all residents of Gaza strip.

Abdullahian stressed in a letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, the President of the Security Council, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the foreign ministers of Islamic countries and other countries of the world, that “preventing this disaster is the direct responsibility of the international community and international organizations, especially the United Nations,”.  Everyone expect the United Nations to do hard to prevent this ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the contemporary century by resorting to Article 99 of its Charter, he indicates.

Abdullahian pointed out that the ongoing genocide in Gaza knocks the alarm of danger for an unprecedented catastrophe, and that searching for practical ways and taking serious measures by the international community to support the Palestinian people, immediately by stopping the military attacks against Gaza Strip, and getting out of the current deteriorating situation is extremely urgent and necessary in the light of the situation in which we are witnessing the continued inability of the United Nations Security Council to stop the war on Gaza Strip and the attacks on the West Bank.

Abdullahian pointed out that the inability of the UN Security Council in this issue is due to the clear and deliberate obstruction by the United States of any effective action by this Council, through its continued resort to using the veto to prevent the passing of any resolution condemning the occupying entity and its crimes.
