A number of vital road projects and rebuilding process in areas liberated from terrorism were implemented by the General Authority for Road Transport’s branch in Hama during the year 2020.
These projects aim to improve the efficiency of the central road network, raise its technical readiness, and ensure the safety of its drivers and passengers.
The Director of the Authority’s branch in Hama Eng. Khider Fatoum stated that the year 2020 witnessed several vital projects including the construction of the Homs -Masyaf highway with a length of 20 km and with an implementation rate of more than 45%, and the Hama -Salmiya Highway in its first phase with a length of 10 km, the implementation rate of which reached 85 percent, in addition to continuing work on the Salmiya- Homs highway, with a length of 12 km, with an implementation rate of 65 percent.
Eng. Fatoum indicated that obstacles caused the slow process of completion of the three projects which will be put into service during the next year.
Eng. Fatoum added that the branch continues with its annual maintenance plan for the central road network within the Governorate of Hama,
Eng.Fatoum revealed that during the year 2021, works to rebuild rain drains located on the central network within the governorate of Hama will be carried out to secure the safe drainage of rainwater in some locations, such as the village of Hayalin, with the expansion of the Bayadiyya bridge on the Sarout River, the expansion of the term “Safsif” on the River Safsif.
