Congress Can’t Decertify Iran’s Commitment to Nuclear Deal, Says Boroujerdi

Tehran – US Congress is not able to decertify Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal, Chairman of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.

Boroujerdi made the remarks Saturday while talking about US President Donald Trump’s possible decision to shift responsibility to the US Congress on Iran’s lack of commitment to nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a qualified body has verified Iran’s compliance with JCPOA, he said.

US will be the loser of the game Trump has entered under the pressure of Zionists since he is after putting pressure against Iran.

The IAEA published on Aug 31, its eighth report and the third since Trump has taken office in January 2017, to confirm that Iran has been committed to the deal.

The report comes a week after the visit of the US representative in the UN Nikki Haley to IAEA in Vienna to press the United Nations nuclear watchdog to seek access to Iran’s military sites.

US no authority to certify Iran compliance with JCPOA

In London, the US is not the authority to certify Iran’s commitment to nuclear deal, Tehran’s envoy to Britain Hamid Baeedinejad in a message said.

In his Twitter message released on Saturday, Baeidinejad said ‘US admin, legally speaking, may not play the role of an authority to certify Iran’s compliance with JCPOA, there is only one judge: IAEA.’

He went on to say that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the only body which is responsible for reviewing Iran’s compliance with nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

According to US Congress approval, US President Donald Trump should certify Iran’s commitment every 90 days.

This is while, the IAEA published on Aug 31, its eighth report and the third since Trump have taken office in January 2017, to confirm that Iran has been committed to the deal.

The report comes a week after the visit of the US representative in the UN Nikki Haley to IAEA in Vienna to press the United Nations nuclear watchdog to seek access to Iran’s military sites.
