Conference of Arab Parties confirms solidarity with Syria and demands an end to the siege on it

Participants in the meeting of the General Secretariat of the Conference of Arab Parties in its 63rd  emergency session affirmed their solidarity with Syria in the face of all the conspiracies and aggression it is exposed to. They demanded the need for an immediate end to the siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on it.They  underlined the importance of the Arab parties’ restoration of their basic and vital role in supporting Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

Deputy Secretary-General of the conference, Muhammad Moncef al-Shabi from the Social Democratic Umma Party in Tunisia, indicated that the steadfastness of the Syrian people and their leadership gives the Arab street strength to stand firm and work for progress, pointing out that the conference is based on a group of emerging parties of the Arab people who are looking for new visions to interact with realities and challenges.

For his part, Adnan Khalifa, Deputy First Secretary of the Jordanian People’s Democratic Party, Hashd, affirmed that this meeting held today in Syria comes as an implementation  of positions towards Arab issues, most notably what Syria is exposed to. He pointed out that Syria’s steadfastness changed the status quo and created new central points in the Arab region and thwarted the attempt to drown the Arab world in a shameful quagmire  that serves American hegemony.

Khalifa described President Bashar Al-Assad’s meeting with members of the General Secretariat of the Conference of Arab Parties as being transparent, indicating that President Al-Assad had listened to many points of view and opinions that would have consequences for work in the next stage.

Secretary-General of the Socialist Democratic Unionist Party in Mauritania, Mahfouz Weld Aziz, pointed out that the arrival of Arab party figures to Syria came as a response to a small part of its favor to the Arabs. He noted that Syria did not fail to defend the Arabs and their causes, and was a stronghold in the face of the Zionist and American projects. Today, it is paying the price for its honorable positions on the just causes of the Arab nation.

Weld Aziz indicated that the members of the General Secretariat of the conference came out of the meeting with President Al-Assad optimistic about the coming future. He said: “Whoever wants to return to his Arabism must return to Syria, because Syria did not abandon its Arabism, but rather was a victim of defending Arabism.”

In turn, Youssef Rabie, a leader in the Bahrain Al-Wefaq Society, said: “We are meeting today to support Syria and stand with its people and leadership, and to break the so-called unjust Caesar’s law, in addition to highlighting the role of the Arab people in working to overthrow this law, which has no legitimate basis.”

Rabie added, “The meeting with President Al-Assad was frank and clear, and many issues were presented in it,” indicating that the Arab parties in the next stage have a great responsibility, because Syria has provided a lot to Arab issues, and it has an important role in confronting any American and Zionist project in the region.

Ali Faisal, a member of the political bureau of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, said: “The extraordinary meeting of the Secretariat in Damascus comes at an exceptional circumstance that our Arab nation, especially Syria and Palestine, is going through. Therefore we wanted from the center of Damascus to send a message to America that the so-called Caesar Act will not break the will of the Syrian people, and we affirm our solidarity with Syria, which has triumphed over the forces of terrorism.

Faisal pointed out that the joint struggle and resistance of the Palestinian and Syrian peoples will lead to ending the Israeli occupation, stressing that resistance in all its forms is the right way to end the occupation and achieve the goals of the Arab nation.

Hamid Rizk of the Yemeni Ansarullah  Movement highlighted the importance of restoring the basic and vital role of the Arab parties to support Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, and what Yemen and Syria are exposed to. He added: “The meeting with President Al-Assad was important as it shed light on the reality of the Syrian position which advocates the Arab peoples’ important issues.

The General Secretariat of the Conference of Arab Parties started its meeting on Saturday at Al-Sham Hotel in Damascus, under the title “Yes to Syria’s unity, sovereignty and national project… No to the siege and aggression against Syria”, and it will last for two days.
