The activities of the 19th session of the International Building Exhibition “Buildex 2022”, which was organized on the fairgrounds in Damascus for a period of five days, were concluded on Saturday evening, with the participation of 265 local, Arab and foreign companies.
In a statement to the media at the end of the events, the Director General of the Arab Group for Exhibitions, Eng. Alaa Hilal, confirmed that this exhibition session came in very difficult circumstances, as exceptional efforts were made to open it on time with the wide participation of companies working in the field of construction and reconstruction.
Hilal highlighted the excellence of Syrian industrialists and producers during this session of the exhibition by presenting new, more advanced and economic alternatives to the supplies, equipment and materials that Syria was importing from abroad. And this is a very important matter that will lead to covering the market requirements and the needs of the construction sector.
This session was also distinguished, according to Hilal, in the “Buildex” incubator pavilion for the projects of graduates of Syrian public and private universities, which allowed them to present their projects and innovations to investors. The exhibition also included delivering lectures which enriched the economic culture of the audience.
Dr. Basem Ali from the “Dama” company for cement and building materials indicated that the exhibition constituted an opportunity to present the company’s experience in the field of construction, which simulates the reconstruction phase, whereby the cement and building materials are provided and equipped according to the best specifications, raw materials, and in accordance with the Syrian standard specifications.
Ali pointed out that the company has a vision and a plan to invest in the field of backfilling and materials resulting from the destroyed buildings, indicating that it consumed about one million cubic meters of rubble residue in the “Marota City” project in Damascus and used it in the foundation layers and in the construction of blocks and concrete with acceptable resistances.
Fares Marei from Al-Hussami Alternative Energy Company noted the visitors’ great interest to learn about solar energy equipment and panels and their prices, indicating that the company offered monocrystalline solar panels manufactured with the latest technologies and guaranteed for 15 years in terms of materials and manufacturing quality and 25 years in terms of performance.
Ali Dada’a, Executive Director of the Seiko Engineering Company for Cladding and Decoration, indicated the visitors’ desire for renewal and their inquiries about the latest materials used in the field of facade decoration, energy, insulation, and the discount offers offered by the company in this field, expressing his hope to hold such exhibitions and similar activities during the coming period.
Among the visitors, the architect Ali Ahmed indicated that he is visiting the exhibition for the second time to see the modern building materials available in the market, which will contribute to the development of his field of work in building cladding. Student Sana Al-Shallah from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Damascus University indicated that the exhibition provided an opportunity for her and her distinguished colleagues from Graduates of engineering colleges in public and private universities to present their engineering projects and contact with investors and companies.
