Compensation for Damaged Farmers

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  The Fund Board to Mitigate the Effects of Drought and Natural Disasters approved, under the chairmanship of Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ahmed Qadri, compensation for1220 farmers in the province of Latakia for damages occurred as a result of the cold on the apple harvest at the end of the fifth month of the year.

The Board also agreed to compensate farmers of Derbassiyeh in the province of Al-Hasakah for the damages that occurred on crops of wheat and lentil because of the cold at the beginning of the fourth month of the year. The number of affected farmers is 93. The compensation also included farmers  in the  Qahtaniyah in Al-Hasakah province. The damages hit the crops of wheat and barley whereas the number of affected farmers is 11 farmers and the compensation amounted to 360.000 Syrian pounds.

The Fund Manager Mohmmed al -Bahri reviewed the Fund’s activities during the past two months, which included the implementation of a symposium on the work of the Fund mechanism in the province of Damascus Countryside in Al-Ghizlaniyah area.
