Commission for Planning and International Cooperation Discusses with Islamic Development Bank Prospects of Cooperation

The planning and International Cooperation Commission discussed with the Islamic Development Bank today the prospects for developing joint cooperation and reactivating relations, which contributes to the development of capacities and training of young people to establish and finance small and medium development projects, achieve economic and social development and restore livelihoods.

Representatives of the bank in more than one Arab country reviewed, during a meeting held via the zoom “Conference” technology, the mechanism of the bank’s work, how to provide assistance, and the quality of the projects it targets.

They emphasized that the Bank looks forward to developing relations with Syria again, to begin construction and economic recovery through plans to keep pace with the needs and aspirations of young people by helping them create development projects and empower them economically.

The Director of Country Operations of the Regional Office of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Khalil Ahmed Hassan, pointed out that there are many projects currently under review, but the Bank expects the Syrian government to set its priorities.

He hoped that the economic sanctions imposed on Syria will end soon in order to activate joint cooperation, rebuild the capacities of young people to manage projects and open markets for their products.

For his part, Musab Badawi, who is in charge of conducting the commission’s business, explained the readiness to cooperate fully with the bank and reconsider the agreements concluded by the commission with it before 2011.

Badawi stressed that the commission is looking forward to building broader and more comprehensive relations in the coming stage, while seeking to increase grants and assistance, and to finance projects in the fields of infrastructure and energy.
