Combating Terrorism should be given top priority at Geneva 2 Conference

Counter-terrorism should top the international conference on Syria, Geneva2, scheduled to be held in Switzerland later this month. This is a fundamental point which all the Syrians should agree on and then all other points are open to be debated. Any result the Geneva conference could come out with other than agreeing on fighting terrorism in Syria would be worthless. What is equally important is that the countries which sponsor the extremist thought of the terrorist groups must stop supplying these groups with weapons and halt the media and political mobilization in their favour. They should also stop the instigation campaigns that aim to devastate the country and undermine Syria’s resistant role in confronting Zionist and colonialist projects in the region that aim to perpetuate the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories and plunder the Arab resources.

Geneva conference should focus on combating terrorism and compelling the countries which are supporting these groups to stop funding, arming and hosting these groups because ending terrorism in Syria is the basis for the success of any political solution.           Many countries which export terrorists to Syria are feeling now that they have committed big mistakes. The only country that still declares its full support for terrorist groups and al-Qaeda is Saudi Arabia. The first issue Syria will propose during the conference should be combating terrorism, and every patriotic Syrian must work to stop terrorism and call upon the countries that fund and arm terrorism to cease their support, because combating terrorism will lead to a political solution.

Syrian people are confident of victory and they have no other option. The Syrian people do not trust an opposition of five-star hotels in London and Paris and who receive money from some petro-dollars countries.  This opposition has no representation in Syria and does not enjoy the Syrian people’s respect. Neither this opposition which receives its orders from the West, nor the so-called “armed opposition” can be considered real opposition; because they are groups affiliated to al-Qa’eda that carry Takfiri thought and implement a Zionist agenda in the region.

The success of Geneva2 demands that the international forces get to convince the extremist regional forces to stop the flow of weapons and money to the armed terrorist groups along with the political and media support.

Almost three years from the crisis now, the certain thing today is that Syria’s future is to be determined by the Syrians themselves through a Syrian-led political process free of any interference or diktat by the Western forces and regional countries.

Syria will go to the international conference “Geneva 2” to propose Syrian solutions without foreign interference.  All Syrians should resort to dialogue and political action to resolve disputes and express themselves.

The most important thing for the Syrian people is maintaining the Syrian state integrity and not creating a vacuum. At the conclusion of the scheduled dialogue, the polls decide the future of the country.
