“Colored Spaces” artistic  Forum held in Lattakia

With the aim of creating a new generation on the artistic scene and providing an  opportunity to those who have an artistic  talent, the National Museum in Lattakia has recently hosted the open-air Acrylic painting  Forum  entitled “Colored  Spaces”.

The event  held by “Picasso Center” for Fine Arts under the supervision of the Directorate of Culture in Latakia, in cooperation with the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.

The Forum brought together the artistic experiences of about 19  talented young women from different academic and professional levels to give them the opportunity to present their works to the public in an initiative to discover promising plastic artistic  talents.

The participants presented about 38   artworks characterized by diversity in terms of themes and artistic schools and focused on  human topics  mainly those concerned with  topic of  woman who is the symbol of mother, homeland and beauty .

“ Art is a message of history, civilization and heritage which should be passed down through generations  .

The forum  aimed to  discover and attract the largest possible number of talents and amateurs to present their artistic production to the public in addition to exchange knowledge,  experience, and skill  that improve their performance and technical level to enrich the fine art movement in Lattakia” Ismail Toutangi  the supervisor of the forum said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper .

“ The experiences that resulted from the forum have been positive and have enabled us   to achieve its most important goals in discovering talents and has motivated us to work so that the forums will continue to create a new artistic generation because art   is a message passed on by generations” the artist Toutangi concluded.

The plastic artist Rana Esber told Syriatimes “This is my first participation in the forum. Art is a purposeful message through which  the psychological, social and cultural topics  are reflected by artists who play an important role in embodying reality”. She added “My participation came within two paintings. The first one depicted the woman, who is a symbol of life, hope, giving and strength  and has a leading and distinguished role”.She pointed out that she  chose warm and bright colors such as red, yellow and blue to express joy, hope and energy. “The second painting focused on reviving our deep-rooted  heritage that we are proud of. Even  though I belong to the younger generation, I am fascinated to heritage topics and I felt it was my duty to shed light on and preserve our heritage” Esber expressed.She indicated the second painting embodied an  old wall built of mud and stones to symbolize the simplicity  that our ancestors lived in, in addition to the pottery jar. In turn, NourGhanem’s participation came as a call for reforestation of “ WadiQandil” after it was exposed to fire  as the artist  depicted the aesthetic of the sea and nature there. Her second painting focused on the topic of challenge and not giving in to difficult circumstances by drawing a girl who holds in her hand the key that lights up, which symbolizes the idea of believing that there is a solution to any problem that confronts us.The artist RashaDardardreams  of visiting  Old  Damascus, so her painting was an opportunity to embody her dream as  she highlighted through her painting the very old Damascene houses.

The artist Atlal Shamlat told Syriatimes that she participated in the forum with four paintings on nature, dancing , music and sea with colors that give us hope in life,   happiness and positive energy .

“Art is a human message and a space of freedom -it represents an attractive world. I seek to invest my energy and spirit in my drawings to embody different topics , especially those concerned with women because woman is herself  wonderful art” according to Shamlat.
