The Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that his country recalled its ambassador to Israel for consultations regarding the massacre committed by the Israeli army against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip.
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “I have decided to recall our ambassador to Israel for consultations. If Israel does not stop the massacre against the Palestinian people, we will not be able to be there.”
President Petro condemned the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip likening what the occupation was doing to “the actions of Nazism”.
For its part, the Chilean government declared today that it recalled its ambassador to Israel for consultations in response to its violation of international law in Gaza.
In a statement by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “In the light of the unacceptable violation of international human rights committed by Israel in Gaza Strip, the Chilean government recalled its ambassador Jorge Carvajal for consultations.”
“Chile is watching with concern the Israeli military operation, which at this stage resembles punishing the Palestinian civilian population,” the statement added, pointing out that Israel’s actions in Gaza do not respect the basic rules of international law, as evidenced by the martyrdom of 8,000 people, most of whom are women and children.”
It called for an immediate ceasefire to allow the start of a humanitarian operation to assist hundreds of thousands of displaced and injured civilians.
The Palestinian resistance hailed the stances of Colombia and Chile against the Israeli aggression on Palestine.
“We affirm that history will immortalize these honest stands of the countries that refuse the aggression and support our cause,” the resistance said.
“We renew our call on all countries of the world, especially the Arab and Islamic countries, that are affiliated with the Zionist occupation, to withdraw their ambassadors and sever their relations with this fascist Nazi entity”, it added.
Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomes the Chilean and Colombian decisions
In the same context, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the steadfast positions of the Republics of Chile and Colombia in support of the Palestinian people, in the face of the massacres and genocide they are being subjected to in the besieged Gaza Strip, including the recent diplomatic measure they took to recall their ambassadors to the Israeli occupation entity.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday reported by Wafa News Agency, that the positions of Chile and Colombia, whose peoples are accustomed to standing for justice and humanity, are consistent with international law.
“The both countries constitute a necessary deterrent to stop the aggression and serious violations of international law and international humanitarian law that the occupation violates. Israel has systematically for decades”, the ministry added.
The Foreign Ministry expressed its hope that other countries would follow the example of Chile and Colombia in reviewing their relationship with the occupation, which is committing massacres and genocide against the Palestinian people before the world.
