Clashes renewed in Baghdad’s Green Zone

Iraqi security sources on Tuesday said that clashes in Baghdad’s Green Zone renewed this morning.

The sources told Al-Sumariya News website the Green Zone witnessed renewed mortar shelling and sounds of clashes with machineguns were heard amid heavy deployment of security forces to face any emergency situation.

According to medical sources, the death toll from yesterday’s clashes in the Green Zone rose to at least 30, in addition to hundreds of injuries.

The joint operations command stressed the need to combat rumors and not to report fake news or post videos of past events to delude people so that they think they are recent events.

The command said that some videos have gone viral on social media websites showing planes conducting air drops for snipers on the buildings of the Green Zone, pointing out that these videos are actually for previous training operations by the counter-terrorism body.
