Circumstances Ripe to Achieve Comprehensive Reconciliation in Damascus Southern Area: Haidar

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Circumstances in Damascus southern area, particularly in al-Hajar al-Aswad and Mukhayam al-Yarmouk have become ripe to go ahead with a comprehensive reconciliation which leads to a solution that helps displaced citizens return to their homes.

Haidar made the remarks during his meeting on Monday with a delegation representing the popular initiative for reconciliation in Mukhayam al-Yarmouk (Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp).  The meeting was attended by Director of the Political Department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Ambassador Anwar Abdul Hadi.

 Talks during the meeting dealt with ways and mechanisms for achieving the hoped-for local reconciliation in the southern region.

Haidar affirmed that the gains of the Syrian Arab army in the battle against takfiri terrorists have pushed forward the process of achieving local reconciliations in different parts of the country.

He stressed that the Syrian government is against any attempt to bargain on or concede the Palestinian rights, foremost of which is the right of the Palestinian people to return to their homeland.

The minister said that any local initiative or popular committee concerned in settlement and reconciliation should have the tools to do and should depend on national individuals who seek solving  citizens problems, thereby supporting the role of local society in disseminating the culture of reconciliation.  

On his part, Abdul Hadi asserted that the terrorism that has been targeting Syria aimed at serving the Israeli occupation entity. He hailed the Syrian army’s role in fighting terrorism and accelerating and expanding local reconciliations.
