“Cinema Café” shows kick off in Old Damascus

The activities of the “Cinema Café” kicked off on Sunday with the screening of the film “Tangerine Fruit”, that is nominated for several Oscars.

Choosing the film “Tangerine Fruit” came as a message expressing the important and vital role of cinema in raising awareness and spreading love and peace, especially in light of the difficult circumstances that the region is going through.

The film highlighted the 1992-1993 Abkhazian War to present a moral story that addresses issues of conflict and peaceful reconciliation.

Regarding the importance of cinema and its role in raising awareness, Raghad Bash, the owner of the Cinema Café idea, said: “The seventh art has always played a vital role in bringing peoples together and enhancing understanding between cultures.”

Regarding his return after an absence of more than 12 years, director Jamal Daoud said: “Direct communication with the Syrian audience after all this absence is very important.” expressing his desire to continue practicing his profession in Syria, benefiting from his international experience in the film industry.
