Church of the Dormition of Our Lady “the New Church” in Saya village in Tartous inaugurated

Tartous – The Church of the Dormition of Our Lady “the New Church” in Saya village in Tartous was inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of officials, men of religion and a large number of residents of the village.

In a statement to journalists, Patriarch John X Yaziji of Antioch and All East for Greek Orthodox, expressed his happiness for the inauguration of the church and for the participation of Awqaf (Islamic Endowments) Minister Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed in this celebration.

“We, both Moslems and Christians in our homeland, are looking forward to seeing our homeland united as ever and enjoying peace and coexistence,” the Patriarch said.

For his part, the Awaqaf Minister said that the inauguration of this church was preceded by the inauguration of a Mosque named after “Mary”, stressing that all worshiping places express amity, peace, safety and solidarity among all the Syrians.

Following the payers and the holy mass, Archbishop of Lattakia and its dependences, Metropolitan Athnasious affirmed that live continues in Syria despite the hard circumstances due to terrorism and blockade, noting the contribution of Syrian expatriates to building this church.
