People and Clergymen attended on Tuesday the opening ceremony of Christmas Cave at Greek Orthodox Church of Mar Elias in Dwilaa district in Damascus.

The 400- square meter cave was made from the cardboard, wood and trees from Bethlehem city where Jesus Christ was born. When you enter the cave, you can see the Christmas stages and the challenges, which Virgin Mary had suffered from before giving birth to the Jesus Christ, in addition to the Christmas Tree and the sculptures that symbolize this celebration.

“The cave has become an annual tradition that embodies Jesus Christ message which symbolizes the human being’s inner peace to preserve their principles and peace with the other, as well as keeping their love and peace with God to preserve their religion and peace with nature, and today’s celebration is a heavenly peace message presented on Earth” Metropolitan Afram Maalouli told the Syria News Agency(SANA).

The people, who were in the ceremony, said that the cave represents the meaning of love and joy.
