Christian denominations celebrate Christmas by holding masses and prayers in various Syrian governorates
Damascus: (ST): Christian denominations in Syria held masses and prayers in churches and worship places on occasion of Christmas, the birth of Christ, the messenger of love and peace.
At the Patriarchate of Mar Gergios Cathedral in Damascus, Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and the Whole East Mar Ignatius Aphram II presided over a mass in which he reviewed the sublime values of Christmas indicating that the Syrian people are marking Christmas this year in light of the many hardships including the unilateral economic coercive sanctions and the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
He prayed to God Almighty to protect Syrian people, president Bashar al-Assad and our heroic army.
Priest Boutros Zaour the pastor of the National Evangelical Church headed a mass at the National Anglican Church in Damascus.
In his sermon, Priest Zaour reviewed the great victories realized by the Syrian Arab Army and the failure of the conspiracies hatched against the Syrian people who rally behind their wise leadership praying to God Almighty to protect Syria, its people and leader.
Similar masses were held in Homs, Dara’a, Sweida, Hasaka and other Syrian governorates highlighting the great virtues of the occasion and praying to God Almighty that peace and stability will prevail in Syria after years of war.
They also affirmed the necessity of following the message of Jesus Christ which calls for disseminating love among people, and underlined the necessity of enhancing national unity among Syrians to foil all conspiracies being hatched against the Syrian people.
They expressed hope that this year would be the year of overcoming pressures, difficulties and challenges facing the Syrian people.
