Chinese Vice Premier: Beijing’s Initiatives Aim to Support True Multilateralism

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang reiterated his country’s support for true multilateralism in the world, noting that it has presented three global initiatives aimed at solving issues facing humanity.

“The Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative present a Chinese approach to solving common issues facing humanity,” Xinhua quoted Ding as saying during his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Beijing on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit.

He stressed that China will continue to deepen cooperation with the United Nations, practice true multilateralism, jointly advance global peace and development and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

For his part, Guterres pointed out that China’s three initiatives are highly consistent with the goals and principles of the United Nations.

Guterres added: “The United Nations expects stronger cooperation with China to promote more just and equitable global governance.

The Chinese capital will host the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit, which is to be attended by Chinese and African leaders from the 4th to the 6th of this month, under the theme “Joining Efforts to Promote Modernization and Build a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.”
