Chinese President Reiterates His Country’s Support For The Establishment Of An Independent Palestinian State
Beijing-(ST)- Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his country’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that enjoys sovereignty along the 1967 borders with Occupied Al-Quds as its capital.
Xinhua news agency quoted Xi as saying in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum in Beijing on Thursday: “China strongly supports the establishment of an independent State of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he added, according to the agency.
It also supports full membership of Palestine in the United Nations, as well as convening a more extensive, reliable and effective international peace conference.”
Xi added: “The war should not continue indefinitely, and justice should not be absent forever,” expressing his country’s determination to continue working to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
He also called on reconstruction in Gaza, and to support the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency UNRWA in providing Palestinian refugees with emergency humanitarian aid to Gaza.
In addition, Xi announced his country’s readiness to work with the Arab side to form the “five frameworks of cooperation”, to promote the building of a community with a shared future for China and the Arab countries.
The five frameworks include a more dynamic framework for innovation, an expanded framework for investment and financial cooperation, a multifaceted framework for energy cooperation, a more balanced framework for mutually beneficial economic and trade relations, and a broader framework for people-to-people exchanges.
The Chinese President stressed that his country will be keen on solidarity and cooperation with the Arab side to build Chinese-Arab relations as a role model for maintaining peace and stability in the world and for high-quality cooperation within the framework of building the “Belt and Road,” project and a role model for harmonious coexistence between various civilizations and for exploring the right path to global governance.
Xi pointed out that, in light of the accelerating pace of changes that the world has not witnessed in a hundred years, China and the Arab countries are striving to accomplish the era’s tasks of achieving national renaissance and accelerating the pace of national construction.
He said: Building a community with a shared future for China and the Arab countries embodies our common aspirations to begin a new era for Chinese-Arab relations and create a better future for the world.
