Beijing, (ST) – Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that his country is ready to enhance cooperation with Islamic countries.
Xi wrote in a speech to the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the text of which was broadcast on Chinese television: China is ready to continue cooperation with Islamic countries in order to preserve traditional friendship, enhance mutual political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and expand trade exchange.
He referred that Chinab and the Islamic countries, during the recent years, have supported each other on issues affecting fundamental interests and mutual concerns.
He pointed out that the two sides achieved fruitful results in bilateral cooperation, improving friendly relations, and creating a model for these relations.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is holding the fifteenth session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, today. The conference will last for two days.
The summit discusses the political issues of the Islamic world, most notably the Palestinian issue, economic, humanitarian, social, legal, and cultural issues, youth, women, family, science, technology, and media issues.
The summit also discusses issues related to rejecting hate speech and Islamophobia, promoting dialogue, and issues of climate change and food security.
