Chinese Foreign Ministry: We are ready to work with the concerned parties to help Syria achieve peace and stability

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning affirmed her country’s readiness to work with relevant parties to help Syria achieve peace and stability.

Mao said in response to a question related to the statements of the Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev that China’s participation in the Astana process will help promote mediation and reconstruction in Syria: “China attaches great importance to the Astana mechanism, and indicated that since the establishment of this mechanism it has played a constructive role in the coordination of efforts and de-escalation in Syria.

Yesterday, the 19th international meeting on Syria concluded in the Astana format, which was held in the Kazakh capital, where the guarantor countries affirmed in their final statement their firm commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and unity, and their rejection of separatist plans aimed at undermining Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the need to continue combating terrorism and lifting the unilateral coercive economic measures.
