On October 9, the Chinese embassy in Washington said that the US restrictions on visas for Chinese officials and companies over alleged human rights abuses in Xinjiang violate international law and are considered interference in the Chinese internal affairs.
“This action seriously violates the basic rules governing international relations. It is interference in China’s internal affairs and undermines its interests,” the embassy said in a statement posted on its Twitter website.
“There is no human rights problem in Xinjiang. The United States’ accusations are just a pretext for intervention in China’s internal affairs,” the embassy said.
On October 8, the United States issued restrictive measures in granting visas to officials of the Chinese government and the Communist Party’s officials. The United States also sanctioned 28 Chinese entities in the list of sanctions based on the background of the situation in Xinjiang.
