China: The illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria should  end

New York, (ST) – China has renewed its demand to end the illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria, and the continuous plundering of its natural resources by these forces.

“The illegal presence of foreign forces and their illegal military operations in Syria must end, and Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be fully respected,” Dai Bing, China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, said in a session of the Security Council yesterday.

The Chinese diplomat called on the international community to abide by international law and Security Council resolutions, adopt unified standards, fight all terrorists in Syria, and stop condoning or exploiting terrorist forces politically.

Dai reiterated China’s demand for the immediate and complete lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed against Syria. He stressed that unilateral sanctions and their excessive implementation contradict the efforts of the Security Council and the broader international community to improve humanitarian access and increase humanitarian resources in the country.

Day reaffirmed that the cross-border aid delivery mechanism is a temporary measure and under special circumstances.
