China: Israel’s repeated attacks on Syria violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity

China has reiterated its condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, stressing that they are a serious violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Xinhua News Agency quoted Geng Shuang, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, as saying before the UN Security Council: “Israel continues its aggressive air raids on Syrian territory, and China, for its part, considers this a matter of great concern,” stressing that “these actions constitute a serious violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and will further push the regional situation out of control.

Geng expressed China’s full support for the Syrian government in taking the necessary measures to combat terrorism, and called on the international community to respect international law and Security Council resolutions, reject double standards, and combat terrorism in all its forms in Syria, in addition to the need to increase aid to Syria and ensure that early recovery projects throughout the country receive adequate and non-earmarked funding support.

“China urges the countries concerned to immediately stop their illegal unilateral measures, and foreign forces should immediately end their illegal military presence in Syria,” he added.

“China expresses the hope that the Arab League and the countries of the region concerned will cooperate with the Syrian government and play a constructive role to promote a political solution,” Geng said.
