China Daily: US refusal to lift unilateral coercive measures on Syria shameful

Beijing, (ST)- The China Daily Newspaper has affirmed that the US refusal to lift unilateral coercive measures on Syria is nothing but a shameful behavior, but it is completely expected by Washington, which claims defending freedoms to justify its practices and crimes, and uses the human rights card in its geopolitical game.

The newspaper said that what is really ironic is the lies of American officials about providing humanitarian aid to Syria at a time when American military interventions in the affairs of other countries, including Syria, and the sanctions imposed by the United States on other countries are causing humanitarian disasters.

The newspaper pointed out that American politicians ignore the consequences and repercussions of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, and their devastating impact on the lives of Syrians.

“What they really care about is achieving Washington’s geopolitical goals in complete disregard for civilians in Syria,” the daily said.

Following increasing international demands to lift the siege on Syria, especially after the catastrophe that befell the country because of the devastating earthquake, the US administration issued a new misleading decision providing for a temporary partial freeze of some unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Syria confirmed that this decision is nothing but a copy previous shameful decisions that aimed at giving a false humanitarian impression, as it provided for alleged exceptions for humanitarian purposes that have been proven false by facts on the ground.
