China congratulates Syria on the election of President Al-Assad as President of the Syrian Arab Republic

Beijing (ST): China congratulated Syria on the election of President Bashar Al-Assad as President of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press conference today that China congratulates President Bashar al-Assad for his re-election, and this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Syria, which is characterized by strong and long-term friendship.

He added that China affirms its firm support for Syria’s efforts to preserve its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and is ready to work with it to seize the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them to achieve further progress in their friendly cooperation.
