China condemns the US attempt to undermine its efforts in combating Coronavirus

(ST) – China strongly criticizes US attempt of undermining its efforts in combating Coronavirus stressing that this behavior constitutes a “sordid act.”

CGTN quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang as commenting at a press conference on US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s release of the new Corona ,(new Corona Wuhan virus), even though the World Health Organization has officially released a name for this type Coronavirus.  He continued saying that a certain American politician does not respect the science and the decision of the World Health Organization. He stigmatized and shamed China and Wuhan, adding that we condemn this hated practice.

Geng pointed out that since the advent of Covid 19, China has provided timely and up-to-date information on the virus to the World Health Organization and countries and regions, including the United States, in an open, transparent and responsible manner, it has shared the genetic sequence of the virus, and actively responded to the concerns of all parties thus promoting international cooperation.

He added that there is international consensus that China has taken time and made positive contributions to fighting the virus worldwide, stressing that “Pompeo’s attempt to smear China’s efforts to contain the epidemic will not succeed”.
