China condemns the entry of a US warship into its southern sea

Beijing (ST): China denounced the entry of a US destroyer into the South China Sea, saying it was an illegal step.

Tian Junli, spokesman for the Southern Command of the Chinese army said in a statement today, reported by France-Press Agency: “The Milius missile destroyer illegally entered the waters adjacent to the Meiji Reef in the Chinese Nansha Islands without the approval of the Chinese government,” noting that the Chinese Air Force follow the ship and watch it.

The press office of the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy said in a statement: The destroyer Milius passed yesterday near the Nansha Islands, claiming that the aim of this passage is to ensure freedom of navigation in the region.
