China calls on UN Security Council to respect the stances of Arab countries regarding the Palestinian issue

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the UN Security Council to respect the stances of Arab countries towards the Palestinian issue.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said in a press conference today: “When making any decisions, the UN Security Council must be based on historical facts, follow the correct path, and express its responsibilities by taking into account the voice and demands of the Arab countries and respecting their stances.”

Mao stressed Beijing’s readiness to continue working in partnership with members of the UN Security Council and the international community to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip to protect civilians and prevent the expansion of the war.

Yesterday, China and Russia used their veto power and thwarted a US draft resolution in the UN Security Council that did not call for a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip.
