China calls on the United States to immediately and completely lift all its sanctions on Syria

China once again called on the United States of America to fully and immediately lift all unilateral sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, and to refrain from deliberately causing humanitarian crises.

“The US government should immediately lift unilateral sanctions on Syria instead of making a political offer for temporary relief,” Xinhua news agency quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin as saying during a press conference today.

Wang added: “The United States has been constantly carrying out military interventions and imposing illegal unilateral sanctions on Syria for years, which has exacerbated the crisis in the economy and people’s livelihood and greatly weakened its ability to deal with disasters.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US side directly hindered efforts to rescue the victims of the violent earthquake that struck Syria, which exacerbated the catastrophe.
