China called for the immediate and complete lifting of unilateral coercive measures imposed by some countries on other countries, stressing that there is an urgent need for a multilateral system based on solidarity, unity and cooperation among the countries of the world.
Chargé d’Affairs of the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Dai Bing, said on Wednesday in a statement before the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of 25 countries: The world faces challenges, with developing countries bearing the burden of their damages, underlining the need more than ever to establish a multilateral system based on solidarity, unity and cooperation among the countries of the world.
He added that despite the serious difficulties and challenges, developing countries and their populations are still victims of unilateral coercive measures that contradict the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, international law, multilateralism and the basic standards of international relations.
Ping pointed out that the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development strongly urge countries to refrain from publishing and applying any unilateral economic, financial and trade measures that are inconsistent with international law and the United Nations Charter.
