China calls for better delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria

On September 15th, China called for improving the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria while respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Sending aid across the border is only a temporary arrangement made under exceptional circumstances, and we need to set a clear timetable for ending  Cross-border transmission permanently,” Xinhua quoted China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Geng Chuang as saying during a Security Council meeting on the situation in Syria,

“Since the adoption of Security Council Resolution No. 2642 more than two months ago, there has been no improvement in the process of sending aid in terms of efficiency or volume,” Chuang added,

Chuang called for an immediate halt to attacks on humanitarian infrastructure in Syria, especially the important airports in Damascus and Aleppo for transporting humanitarian supplies.

“Syria is still currently facing a complex security situation, and the international community must adopt a unified standard on the basis of international law and Security Council resolutions to combat all terrorist organizations in Syria without any tolerance,” Chuang said.

Chuang stressed the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, considering that the illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria or even the establishment of military bases without government approval constitutes a serious violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
