Charity celebration to support SOS Children’s village in Syria

Under the slogan ‘Syria the Peace’, a charity celebration was held Sunday evening in the Damascus Opera House to support the SOS Children’s village in Syria.

The celebration, which was organized by the Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs, Culture and Information, included several films and songs highly praising patriotism and sacrifice for the homeland.

It was sponsored by the Syrian businessman Tamer Balbisi, who said that the charity event is a message from the Syrian children that Syria will remain the country of peace and civilization.

“This initiative comes within the national charity works which I carry out to support the families of martyrs or orphanages. It is a national duty,” the businessman told the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted a member of the Erfan Company for Organizing Activities and Conferences Saleh al-Sayyed as saying that the a concert will be held every 4 months within the project of ‘Syria The peace’ in order to stress that Syria will remain the symbol of peace despite what is going on.

During Sunday’s celebration, a film entitled ‘ Why’ was screened to show the situation of Syrian children before and after the terror war on the country.

SOS Children’s Villages has been working in Syria since the mid-1970s. In 2012, SOS Children’s Village Aleppo had to be evacuated due to security reasons. The children and young people currently live at SOS Children’s Village Qodsaya in Damascus, according to the SOS website.

Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war have been waged against Syria targeting its army, people, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the region and to have hegemony over its wealth.
