Challenges facing religious discourse and the immunization of youth highlighted in Cairo Conference on Cyberspace and Modern Means of Religious Discourse
On the sidelines of the 34th conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, under the title “Cyberspace and Modern Means of Religious Discourse,” the Syrian Minister of Endowments’ held discussions with religious figures in Cairo focusing on the challenges of religious discourse and the immunization of youth.
Al-Sayed met with the Saudi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Awwad bin Sabti Al-Anzi, and discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation in the religious field.
He also met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic World League in Makkah graced city, Secretary-General of the Islamic Fiqh (jurisprudence) Academy, Dr. Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah al-Zaid, and they discussed the most prominent challenges facing religious discourse and ways of cooperation in promoting moderation, confronting extremist ideology, and immunizing young people from it.
The Minister of endowment (Awqaf), also visited Al-Azhar University and met with its president, Dr. Salama Gomaa Daoud, where the two sides stressed the importance of specialized university study of the religious law (Sharia) aspect. They affirmed that it is one of the most important ways to confront deviations and abnormal ideas that emanate from non-specialists and constitute a path to extremism .
