Chairman of the National Dialogue committee: Our dream is to build a strong state where every citizen feels pride and dignity, a state based on the principles of justice, freedom, and equality

Chairman of the National Dialogue Committee, Mr. Maher Alloush said in a statement : “Today, we began the first preparatory sessions for the National Dialogue Conference in Homs, with the historical responsibility we bear at this critical stage in Syria’s history in mind.”

He pointed out that ” This dialogue aims to listen to citizens’ opinions and suggestions on the national issues at hand, in order to transform them into workshops during the conference, ensuring genuine interaction between various segments of society.”

“Syrians have not engaged in dialogue with one another for 75 years, nor have they had genuine participation in political decision-making and shaping their future.” Alloush said. He added ” Today, we are presented with a real opportunity to take on our national responsibilities in outlining the features of the next phase.”

” The question of “the day after” has always been a constant source of concern for Syrians, as the past carried many wounds and pains.” He indicated.

Alloush stressed that ” However, today we stand at a pivotal moment to prove that the future will be brighter and that we are capable of overcoming challenges and rebuilding Syria on solid foundations.”

He affirmed “Our dream is to build a strong state where every citizen feels pride and dignity, a state based on the principles of justice, freedom, and equality — values for which Syrians have sacrificed greatly.”

“Through the preparatory committee, we will continue working to ensure these aspirations are translated into practical steps.” He noted

“The committee has prepared the requirements for the success of the national dialogue and will continue its meetings across various Syrian provinces to develop working papers that represent all viewpoints presented.” Alloush said.

He pointed out that representation at the conference includes all segments and components without relying on percentage quotas based on population size or component weight, as the primary goal is to ensure comprehensive national participation.

“The topics of the National Conference must lay the groundwork for the provisions of the upcoming constitution, in addition to providing precise diagnoses of the challenges facing the Syrian state and proposing practical solutions.”he stressed.

” The conference will discuss key issues such as transitional justice, constitutional development, public institution reform, freedoms, the role of civil society organizations, and the economic principles that will serve as a strong pillar for the future of Syria.” Alloush concluded.
