A Ceasefire in Lebanon came into effect this dawn following 66 days of brutal Israeli aggression on Lebanese territories, according to Lebanese media outlets.
A number of displaced Lebanese began returning to their towns and villages in the South at dawn today coinciding with the ceasefire.
The Lebanese army said in a statement: “as the ceasefire came into effect, the army is working to take the necessary measures to complete deployment in the South according to the Lebanese government’s mandate. It is also working to carry out its missions in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon – UNIFIL within the framework of Resolution 1701”.
The Lebanese army command calls on citizens to wait before returning to the border villages and towns that the Israeli enemy forces have penetrated into, until the forces complete withdrawal in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. It also calls on residents returning to other areas to exercise caution and beware of unexploded ordnance and suspicious objects left behind by the Israeli enemy.
The Israeli enemy preempted the ceasefire agreement with violent night raids targeting areas in the capital Beirut and the southern suburbs, and villages in the south and Bekaa area.
The Israeli warplanes launched a raid on the Nuwairi area in Beirut, targeting a residential building, which led to its collapse and caused damage to the place. The raid claimed the lives of 7 citizens and injured 37 others, while the work of removing the rubble is still ongoing.
The Israeli acts of aggression continued and extended to several in southern Lebanon and Bekaa until the ceasefire took effect.
According to latest statistics from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 3,823 people were martyred and 15,859 were wounded during 66 days of Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
On the other hand, the Lebanese Resistance responded to the Israeli attacks by targeting enemy sites and bases.
Before the ceasefire came into effect, the Lebanese Resistance responded to the Israeli attacks by carrying out operations targeting enemy sites, bases, and the positions of the enemy forces and settlements in the north and depth of occupied Palestine. Resistance fighters also targeted the settlement of “Evin Menachem” with rockets.
