CAIRO, (ST)-Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has stressed the need to combat terrorism and extremist organizations in Syria.
Spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, adviser Ahmad Hafez, said that during his meeting with UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, Shoukri underlined the need to confront the danger of the foreign terrorists’ infiltration from the regions where they are positioned into Syria.
“The United Nations and all the parties concerned have to play their role in this concern,” Shoukri affirmed, noting the Turkish regime’s transfer of many terrorist mercenaries from the north of Syria to Libya.
Shoukri reiterated that Egypt is keen on supporting the efforts aiming at reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria in accordance with the Security Council Resolution No. 2254 in order to restore security and stability in the country.
