Cables of condolences continue to be sent for the death of al-Moallem highlighting his crucial role as a fighter and diplomat who defended Arab rights until the last breath

Capitals (ST):  Cables of condolences continued to be sent to the Syrian leadership and officials  over the death of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem.

In Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov offered his condolences to the Syrian leadership and friendly people of Syria  over the death of the late al-Moallem.

In his condolences cable, published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website , Lavrov said   “I received with a lot of  sadness and sorrow the news about the demise of my colleague, Walid al-Moallem, whom we remember as a wise diplomat, who has efficiently assumed the foreign policy missions tasked to him in Syria.

In Pretoria, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation in South Africa Naledi Pandor expressed her sincere condolences at the death of al-Moallem. In a statement released by the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation Pandor said, ” We would like to express our profound sadness upon learning of the demise of His Excellency, Walid Al-Moallem, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic.

We wish to convey the sincere condolences of the Government and people of the Republic of South Africa to the bereaved family of the late Minister, and to the Government and people of the Syrian Arab Republic on this sad loss.

We laud Foreign Minister Walid AL-Moallem’s impressive achievements and wish the Government and people of the Syrian Arab Republic well in their progress towards peace, development and prosperity of their country.”

In Budapest, Chief editor of the Blue Danube magazine Abdel Monem Qaddoura stressed that the news about the death of Al-Moallem was shocking to all the people who knew him, because he was a national personality who reflected the Syrian mosaic.

He added that the late Al-Moallem availed himself of  all opportunities to teach the younger generations lessons in patience, steadfastness and love for the homeland. 

Concluding his speech, Qaddoura said that no Arab citizen will forget the late Al-Moallem’s speech directed to former US Secretary of State John Kerry in defense of homeland and sovereignty.

In Madrid, the Syrian community and students studying at the Spanish universities expressed deep regrets and sadness for the painful loss represented by the demise of the late al-Moallem.

In a statement they released today, members of the Syrian community and students studying in Spain expressed heartfelt condolences to President Bashar al-Assad and to Syrian people. They affirmed that they will never forget that lasting prints of the late Al-Moallem as a fighter for Syria’s rights and a diplomat who spent his life defending the Arab rights at international arenas.
