Cabinet: we won’t allow trading in Syria’s resources

Damascus (ST)-The Cabinet on Tuesday’s session condemned the European Union’s decision which allows its member states to make transactions regarding the import of the stolen petroleum by the armed terrorist groups, affirming that the resources of Syria are only for the Syrian people.

“The Syrian government will not allow any side in the world to loot and trade Syria’s properties in order to provide the terrorist gangs with weapons and money, particularly the Takfiri Jabhat al-Nusra,” the Cabinet said during the session headed by Premier Wael al-Halqi.

The Cabinet asserted that the government will take all legal and military procedures to confront the robbers of the Syrian people’s resources, adding that the Syrian armed forces will control all Syrian territories soon, including oil fields for being a property of the Syrian people.

Al-Halqi discussed the government’s efforts with all available potentials on all levels to tackle the impact and repercussions of the economic situation on the citizen’s livelihood due to the unfair embargo on the Syrian economy.

Al-Halqi reviewed the vital and development projects inaugurated in the Syrian governorates that reflect determination and willpower of Syrian people to defy the plots contrived against the country.

The Premier affirmed that there is a strategic reserve of all nutritional, petroleum and consumer materials and that the previous shortages in some materials are disappearing gradually.

Al-Halqi hailed the efforts of the brave armed forces in confronting terrorist groups and in restoring security and stability to the country.  

Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem briefed the government on latest political developments in the region and their repercussions on the Syrian situation, highlighting steadfastness of the Syrian people in confronting all challenges.

Later, the Cabinet approved a draft law on the new General Sport Federation.
