By holding prayers and masses, the Armenian community celebrates Christmas

Damascus (ST): The Armenian community, which follows the eastern calendar, celebrated today glorious Christmas, the birth of Christ, the messenger of love and peace.

On this occasion, a Divine Liturgy was held in Saint Sarkis Church for the Armenian Orthodox in Damascus, presided over by Archbishop Armash Nalbandian, Metropolitan of the Armenian Orthodox Diocese of Damascus and its dependencies, assisted by a group of priests and the church’s choir.

In the holiday sermon, Bishop Nalbandian spoke about the sublime meanings of Christmas, calling for emulation of the Holy Family and the teachings enshrined by Jesus in the necessity of adhering to the principles of love, goodness, justice and peace among all people.

At the end of his sermon, Bishop Nalbandian congratulated and wished security, peace and prosperity for the Syrian people, army and leadership.

The holiday sermon also included the sermon of His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on the occasion of Christmas, which is recited in all Armenian churches around the world.
